Iowa

Over Labor Day weekend, Jamie and I travelled to Lake Okoboji, IA. There was a big Lee family reunion. We had a great time spending time with Jamie’s family at the lake.

Wanna buy me a present?

I like presents. I’ll even take them from total strangers. In case anyone wants to get me a present, feel free! I’ve even made it easy for you. I have a wish list set up at Amazon.com. Click here to go to my wish list. There’s lots of stuff for you to choose from. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s a “Add all items to cart” button. If you want to buy me everything on the list, it won’t take too long.

The Paper Chase Begins

Jamie and I just got home from our orientation meeting with CCAI. Wow… the paperwork is thouroughly confusing and a monumental task. We have to get a bunch of documents together. They all have to be notarized. Once all of them are notarized, we send them all to Colorado State. They “certify” that the notary is valid. I think that’s about $12 per page + express shipping. Once we get those back ( each document will have a new document attached certifying the notary ), we ship them to the Chinese Consulate for our region.

Adoption Accepted!

We were called this morning by CCAI to tell us that our adoption application has been accepted. The next step is to attend a meeting at CCAI. Here we’ll get more information about the process and some guidance on what has to happen next.

Sunrocket Woes

My last few days have been a bit frantic. You see, after being a loyal customer to the 2nd largest VoIP provider in the world I got screwed. I read a /. post about how Sunrocket closed thier doors on Monday night. Uhh… wah? That’s my telephone provider! Greeeaaaaat. I think I’m just about as set up as I can be at this point. After much consideration, I’ve decided to sign up with ViaTalk.

Anyone have any frequent flyer miles?

Our friends are going to Hawaii in October. We were bummed because we had already gone in May and didn’t think we could get away with another week in Hawaii. Well guess what? We managed it! We’re very excited.

You see, we had lots of miles accrued. What better way to use them? To make it an even sweeter deal

Adoption Application

The adoption application was mailed today. Wish us luck!

Why China?

You may be asking yourself why we decided to adopt a child from China. That’s actually a good question. Jamie’s a better one to explain it, but I’ll do my best. First and foremost, Jamie feels it’s the right thing to do. Actually, she feels like she’s supposed to do it. Since it’s improbable we’ll have a biological child of our own, adoption seems like a great alternative.

Jamie’s been doing research on the ‘net about adoption in general. She also has a co-worker

The first meeting

Well, we have some big news! Jamie and I have decided to adopt a baby girl from China! We’re very excited.

Tonight, Jamie and I attended our first meeting with CCAI. The meeting was packed with information. The presenter, Joshua Zhong, is a co-founder of the agency. He’s very energetic

Back from Hawaii

Wow… that’s all I can say. Ok, I can say more, you’re right. Hawaii was incredible. We stayed on Kauai for 7 days. It was great. We did lots and lots of stuff. Really, we didn’t have much downtime ( which I think is unfortunate ).

We coolest thing we did, as far as I’m concerned
