Camping in Wyoming

We went on a multi-day camping trip for the first time in a long time.

Gulf Coast Part 1: Florida

June brought us to the Gulf Coast. It think it was the first time we’ve ever been there (at least for me).

Gulf Coast Part 2: New Orleans

After spending time with Jodie and Nico, we drove back to New Orleans for some debauchery.

Napa

We took another trip to Napa Valley, California. I don’t care what Disney says… Napa is “the happiest place on Earth”.

Christmas in NY

For Christmas this year we travelled to New York to visit with Tim’s family.

Costa Rica

For our second time to Central America this year (crazy, right?), we went to Costa Rica for another wedding! Who knew we had such cool friends?

Guatemala

In January we took our first trip to Central America ever. We went to Guatemala (Antigua, to be exact).

EBC Trek: Pictures

Here are a few of our pictures from our trek. We learned that there’s really no way to capture the majesty of the landscape that is the Himalaya. We tried, though.

EBC Trek!

UPDATE: 6.5 days after we left Kathmandu, it was struck by a terrible earthquake. Our thoughts go out to everyone. We were very lucky to leave when we did. Please donate what you can to the people in need.

Jamie and I spent 3 weeks in April tackling one of the top treks in the world: Mount Everest Base Camp. This encompasses 77 miles over 11 days and about 9,000’ in elevation gain (all the way to 17,600’).

Sayulita

We took a quick break from our daily lives to attend a wedding in Sayulita, Mexico. Katie Lee, Jamie’s cousin, was married to Jeff Sterett on the beach on 12/13/14.

Phoenix in January

Jamie ran in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon! She did the 12 marathon (13.1 miles) in 02:09:08! Jamie saw her running buddies; Tim tried to stay inside w/ Phill and Autumn

Christmas 2013

Jamie and I are back from our Christmas trip to Iowa. Once again, it was productive and fun! We actually did an over-night on our way to IA (we stayed in Kearney, NE). This allowed us to partake in some Christmas celebrations in Omaha with Jamie’s Grandparents, a couple of aunts, uncles, and cousins. The white elephant gift exchange was truly something. After Omaha we kept on driving to Fort Dodge.

Thanksgiving

We had quite the Thankgiving trip this year. We started out on Saturday driving to Ft. Dodge to visit with Jim and Sharon. We spent a few days visiting and eating well. On Wednesday, we drove to Omaha to catch a flight to New York. We celebrated Thanksgiving with my mom and dad, brother and sister-in-law-ish, and a couple of nephews. Lisa cooked a great meal and my mom cooked some great dessert.

Christmas 2012

Jamie and I traveled to Fort Dodge, IA, for Christmas this year. It was great to spend time with Jamie’s family, as we’ve been spending Christmas with Tim’s family in recent years. Jodie and Nico joined us in Iowa. We’ve actually spent Christmas for the last few years with Jodie and Nico. It’s almost a tradition (besides watching Elf)! Christmas day we started a new tradition… movies! The 6 of us couldn’t decide on a single movie, so we split up.

A break from the heat : Kauai 2012

Back in June, Jamie and I once again vacationed on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. Now I really, really want to move there! I’m sure I could do it… I’m sure Jamie couldn’t. Bummer! I think she’d miss the mountains too much (and pesky things like friends and family). If we sold our house(es), all of our stock, and cached in our 401k’s, I think we could do it. The most adventurous thing we did was kayak the Na Pali coast.

Cancun is balmy in the summertime

Jamie and I spent the first week of August in Cancun. It was our first time to Cancun, and we really enjoyed it! As usual, our “let’s just relax” trip turned in to “oh, I guess we did a lot” trip… happens every time.

Video from Africa

When we bought a new camera for Jamie, we made sure it took video as well. It’s pretty standard these days.

I finally got around to figuring out what to do with (I’m a photograph person myself). Anyway, here are a few videos from our trip to Africa.

Dumela, O Kae?

For those that don’t know, that’s “Hello, how are you?” in a South African dialect called Sesotho. We know this because a college student we met

Christmas in NY

Jamie and I flew back to New York for Christmas again this year. As always, we had a great time. The worst part about the trip was that we didn’t get to spend much time with my Dad. He was in the hospital for about a week. He’s out, which is good

McQueen / Hruska Wedding

A couple of weekends ago Jamie and headed to Omaha for Jamie’s cousin’s wedding. Amy McQueen and Chris Hruska were married on August 8th, 2009.

It was a great weekend. They had

Mt. Harvard

On July 18, Jamie and I hiked another 14’er. We were talking with our good friends, Mike and Katie, who decided they wanted to do one to. It was Mike’s second 14’er, technically

Summer with the Mackey's

Jamie and recently returned from yet another great trip to Austin to visit our good friends the Mackey’s. As always, we had a great time. Man, it was hot and humid! Thankfully the pool was always refreshing (at about 90 degrees). We had a day or two below 100 degrees. One of those days we spent at Schlitterbahn. Jamie was so happy that she finally got to go (she got cheated last year when Joe and I took the boys to 6 flags).

Spring Break - 2009

We decided to take our first cruise in March. We looked at a bunch of different options, and we decided to maximize our week with a 6 day cruise with 4 ports.

Christmas

Shortly after the Christmas party (are you sensing a theme here?), we headed to New York to celebrate Christmas with my family. As a treat to ourselves, Jamie and I spent the first two nights in midtown Manhattan. What a blast! Jamie usually drags me into the city kicking and screaming (I’m not a big fan of commuting in, walking around all day, and commuting back). This was a very different experience since we had a lot more time to do stuff.

July 4th in Austin Texas

Last week we made our annual pilgrimage to Austin, TX, to visit our good friends The Mackey’s. As always, we had a great time! We spent a whole lotta time eating BBQ and swimming in the pool. Jamie’s highlight is when we rented a boat on Lake Travis. It was actually a lot of fun. Mostly because with the boat rental we rented a driver. That was great. He knew all about the lake and all about driving boats ( we’ve had… issues… in the past ).

Quick Wedding Preview

This past weekend Jamie and I traveled to Ft. Dodge, IA, to celebrate her dad getting married to Sharon.

We’ll be posting pictures soon, but I just wanted to get this little gem up.

Mexico - 2008

A couple weeks ago Jamie and I went to Mexico for spring break. We had a blast!

Our trip to Arizona

Back in January we headed to the Phoenix area to visit friends and family.

Diving in Hawaii

When we were in Kona, HI, we did a most excellent night dive with a wild Manta Ray (you can read more about it here). Our friend, Maryjane, took some video. I’ve posted

Skiing

Jamie and I went to Monarch a couple times this year. Great ski area… always great snow. Here’s a quick video

Thanksgiving

Jamie and I flew to Long Island to spend Thanksgiving with my family. We had a great trip, albeit a short one. We flew in on Wednesday and out on Saturday. Since I started my new job I don’t have any time off… we were sad we couldn’t stay longer.

Hawaii, Part Deux

A few weeks ago we were fortunate enough to go back to Hawaii for the 2nd time this year. I wasn’t too expensive since we split most of the costs three ways. Of course, had I known I might get laid off we never would have went. Anyway, we had a great time! We got a lot of diving in. The coolest part was the night Manta Ray dive. That was fantastic.

Iowa

Over Labor Day weekend, Jamie and I travelled to Lake Okoboji, IA. There was a big Lee family reunion. We had a great time spending time with Jamie’s family at the lake.

Anyone have any frequent flyer miles?

Our friends are going to Hawaii in October. We were bummed because we had already gone in May and didn’t think we could get away with another week in Hawaii. Well guess what? We managed it! We’re very excited.

You see, we had lots of miles accrued. What better way to use them? To make it an even sweeter deal

Back from Hawaii

Wow… that’s all I can say. Ok, I can say more, you’re right. Hawaii was incredible. We stayed on Kauai for 7 days. It was great. We did lots and lots of stuff. Really, we didn’t have much downtime ( which I think is unfortunate ).

We coolest thing we did, as far as I’m concerned

Pictures from spring break

Well, I finally took a break from playing my shiny new Playstation3 to work on the photos from our trip to Austin.

Spring Break - 2007

Last week Jamie and I spent a week in Austin, TX, visiting our friends The Mackey’s. We had a great time. Austin really is a beautiful place. Joe and Randi are in the finishing stages of putting in the new pool/spa. It’s huge! It was pretty hot and humid the whole time we were in Austin. Of course, with our luck, the first day we could swim in the pool was the day we drove back to Colorado.

Our trip to Phoenix, AZ

A couple weekends ago Jamie and I drove down to the Phoenix area to visit some friends and her Dad in Apache Junction, AZ. We had fun seeing everyone.

Christmas 2006

Jamie and I spent the end of December in New York to spend the holidays with Tim’s family.

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving this year we travelled to Omaha, NE, and Fort Dodge, IA. We had a great time in both states!

George Greene cooked one mean Thanksgiving dinner.

Spring Break, 2006

We went back to Mexico last week. We had a great time!

We were a bit apprehensive at first because it was our first time staying in our timeshare (Villa Del Palmar Flamingos in Nuevo Vallarta). We were not disappointed! The resort is beautiful. We stayed in a 1 bedroom condo (that could sleep 4). The bedroom had a 5 piece master bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub. There was marble everywhere. The patio was incredible with a nice big marble table, chairs, and a chez lounge. We had a great view of the resort and the ocean.

Update

Good news for my Dad. He’s back home from the hospital and recovering nicely. He’s trying to take advantage of the 25lbs (!!) he lost too. He’s watching what he eats. Of course, I’m sure the doctors have a hand in that too. The pathology came back clean so that’s a really good thing. He’ll go back in a few months to have everything reattached to thier proper places. Sean and Veronica came out to Colorado this past weekend.

New York

I just got back from New York. Unfortunately, my father had to have a tumor removed from his colon on Wednesday. He’s recovering well; he should be out of the hospital in about week. In about two months he’ll have to go back in for another operation. That one won’t be as bad though. They’ll just have to reconnect his colon (his lower colon is disconnected so it can heal). The prognosis is also very good.

2005 Holiday Season

Well, we’ve had a busy holiday season!

For Christmas, we drove down to Apache Junction to visit with Jamie’s Dad and his girlfriend. Jim bought a trailer home with plenty of room for him and his horses. Apache Junction is an interesting place. It’s population is unbelievebly old white people, heh. It’s a cool place if you ever get the chance to visit. Although you might not want to believe someone if they tell you everyplace has a fish special every Wednesday night. shrugs

PNW Trip

Wow... what a trip. Jamie and I just got back from a trip to the Pacific NorthWest. It was a blast. We went to Seattle, Yakima to see Jodie and Nico, and to Portland to see Paul and Leisa.

We enjoyed Seattle a lot. The weather wasn't too bad either! It was a bit humid though.

A Bunch of Numbers

5; 2,435; 3029; 06/05/2005; 32; 26.2; 308; 11:12; 4:53:31

"What do all these numbers mean" you ask?

Spring Break, 2005

Jamie and I spent last week relaxing in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, at the RIU. It was a very nice end to my Master's Degree. ATMEL shut down for the week and Jamie had spring break, so we had to take advantage of it while we could! I actually missed the last week of classes for me, but it wasn't a very big deal.

December / January Update

Well here we are. A brand new year! I wonder what will change, and what will remain the same. Our year went pretty well. We did some fun things, and at least we ended it in good health! As my previous update said, Jamie went to Disney in October with her sister Jodie and brother-in-law Nico. She had lots of fun and I finally put up her pictures. In November we flew back to New York for Thanksgiving.

October Update

Yet another update… well what do you know. As usual, there’s not much to report. We’ve been busy with work and school. I had a small break recently, which was nice. Now I’m back in though. Luckily I’ll have half of November and all of December off. Then it’s back in for two more classes and I’ll be done! Yeah! Jamie’s also keeping busy. She really enjoys many of her jobs!

A 'not so good update'

Well, here's an update for you. I (Tim) have mono! Wow... just my luck. I've never had it before so it's kind of a mystery as to how I got it now. I swear I wasn't making out with high school chicks! The symptoms really suck. It's basically really bad strep throat. At one point I had a fever of 103.6. The fever is over, now it's just my throat. I'm supposed to take a week off of work and get lots of rest.

Pictures of our trip

I got the pictures of our trip up in our Image Gallery section. REMOVED: TOO OLD. I plan on writting something up to go along with it as well. -Tim

We're Baaaa-aaaack

We told you we were planning on going someplace beachy. Well, we spent this past week in the Dominican Republic! It’s on a little island in the Carribean that’s been getting some bad press lately. The island is called “Hispanola”. That may or may not sound familiar. I think the island is more famous for a roudy country that inhabits the western third of the island. This, of course, is Haiti.

Updates

Not much going on at the moment. I’ve added a few more albums to the Gallery though. There’s a few pictures of our house decorated for Christmas. Jamie did great! There’s a lot more space to decorate this year… I also put up a couple older ones (Colorado Fall Colors, and Spring Snow). Jamie spent last weekend in Estes Park snow-shoeing and other fun stuff while I stayed home and did a few papers for school that were piling up.

Phoenix in the winter

Jamie and I spent this past weekend in Phoenix, AZ. Jamie’s dad, Jim, has spent the last two January’s in a little town called Apache Junction. It’s a quaint little cowboy town (complete with people wearing handguns at the Wal-Mart!), perfectly suited for Jim and Geraldine (his new mule). Sharon was there to keep them both company. We stayed with our good friends Lindsay and Jonathan Cavner the first two night, and we spent the last night with our good friends Phill and Autumn Miller.
