McQueen / Hruska Wedding

A couple of weekends ago Jamie and headed to Omaha for Jamie’s cousin’s wedding. Amy McQueen and Chris Hruska were married on August 8th, 2009.

It was a great weekend. They had

Mt. Harvard

On July 18, Jamie and I hiked another 14’er. We were talking with our good friends, Mike and Katie, who decided they wanted to do one to. It was Mike’s second 14’er, technically

Summer with the Mackey's

Jamie and recently returned from yet another great trip to Austin to visit our good friends the Mackey’s. As always, we had a great time. Man, it was hot and humid! Thankfully the pool was always refreshing (at about 90 degrees). We had a day or two below 100 degrees. One of those days we spent at Schlitterbahn. Jamie was so happy that she finally got to go (she got cheated last year when Joe and I took the boys to 6 flags).

Spring Break - 2009

We decided to take our first cruise in March. We looked at a bunch of different options, and we decided to maximize our week with a 6 day cruise with 4 ports.

Christmas

Shortly after the Christmas party (are you sensing a theme here?), we headed to New York to celebrate Christmas with my family. As a treat to ourselves, Jamie and I spent the first two nights in midtown Manhattan. What a blast! Jamie usually drags me into the city kicking and screaming (I’m not a big fan of commuting in, walking around all day, and commuting back). This was a very different experience since we had a lot more time to do stuff.

Christmas Party

Shortly after Thanksgiving, we had our annual Christmas party. It was a ton of work, but it was all worth it. Thanks to everyone who came! Thanksgiving

I’m finally getting around to posting pictures from last year (sorry). The holiday season kicked off when Jamie’s sister, Jodie, brother-in-law, Nico, and their exchange student, Komal, came out to Colorado for Thanksgiving. We had a great time with them, and we hope they had a great time too! Jamie did lots of entertaining that week since I had to work 3 days. Jamie’s Dad, Jim, joined us for a few days too.

iPhone

Well, I finally have my iPhone!? Woot!? It took a long time (I’ve wanted one since they first came out - 6.27.2007). I took a year and half and a second job… but… whatever. It was all worth it ;) This thing is really amazing. I’ve played around with them a little bit in the past, but I can’t believe what this thing can do. I highly recommend it if you can get your hands on one.

US & Crude Oil

The DOE website shows how much crude oil the US imports each month and where it comes from. It’s a good read. http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/dnav/pet/pet_move_impcus_a2_nus_epc0_im0_mbbl_m.htm Here’s a breakdown of the top six places (I wanted to include Iraq) we imported crude oil from in August, 2008: Rank Country # Barrels % of Top 6 % of Total Imports 1 Canada 56.8M 24% 18% 2 Saudi Arabia + 47.5M 20% 15% 3 Mexico 40M 17% 13% 4 Venezuela * 35.5M 15% 11% 5 Nigeria * 32.1M 14% 10% 6 Iraq *+ 20.5M 9% 6% I find this pretty interesting.
