Christmas in NY
5/Jan 2010
Jamie and I flew back to New York for Christmas again this year. As always, we had a great time. The worst part about the trip was that we didn’t get to spend much time with my Dad. He was in the hospital for about a week. He’s out, which is good, but he got out the day we left to come home. Bummer!
After we saw the family, we stayed (again) in NYC for a couple of nights. While there, we did lots of stuff.
Here are the highlights from our trip:
- The Village Lanterne in Lindenhurst: Great German restaurant
- Dinner at Accademia di Vino: Quite a nice Italian restaurant
- Top of the Rock: Well worth the admission. We went at night; the skyline was beautiful
- Museum of Modern Art: Didn’t get to spend too much time here. We did get to see the Tim Burton exhibit which was cool
- Metropolitan Museum of Art: Awesome as always. The Samurai exhibit was neat (lots and lots of swords)
- Virgil’s BBQ: Great BBQ in midtown!
- Discovery’s Time Square Exposition - Leonardo DaVinci’s Workshop: Way overpriced viewing of replicas. Would be great for kids; there’s lots of interactive stuff. Adults should skip it. There are better things to do in Manhattan.
- Queen of Sheba Ethiopian Restaurant: Awesome Ethiopian food in Hell’s Kitchen. You should certainly try it if you’ve never been. The local Fox News affiliate was filming a piece while we were there. They might even show Jamie eating on TV!
- Wicked at the Gershwin Theater: Wow… what a show. I highly recommend seeing this. The set was amazing and the cast was incredible.
