Pikes Peak Ascent

Well, Jamie finally did it. She ran the Pikes Peak Ascent! Man, what a feat.

For those that don’t know, each year there are two running events up Pikes Peak. The first day, people sign up to run up Pikes Peak. It’s 13.32 miles long and 7,814’ up. The race begins in Manitou Springs and end on the top of the Peak. This is what Jamie’s ran (along with 1641 other people).

The second day gives even crazier people a chance to suffer. That’s the marathon. Some people are “doublers.” That means they are REALLY crazy and run the ascent the first day and the marathon the next.

Jamie ran (she says it was a fast hike) the ascent in 4:52:18 (296 of 484). That’s a great time, even if she didn’t run too much of it. I took the MUCH easier route to the top… I drove. She was very happy to see me and even happier to have finished the race. She spent all summer training for this. I’m really happy to see her achieve her goal. Go Jamie!
