Sunrocket Woes
19/Jul 2007
My last few days have been a bit frantic. You see, after being a loyal customer to the 2nd largest VoIP provider in the world I got screwed. I read a /. post about how Sunrocket closed thier doors on Monday night. Uhh… wah? That’s my telephone provider! Greeeaaaaat.
I think I’m just about as set up as I can be at this point. After much consideration, I’ve decided to sign up with ViaTalk. They seem to have a decent plan and actually more features than I had with Sunrocket. I’m a little disappointed that they are owned by HostRocket ( as web hosting company ). I used HostRocket for my webserver for a while. I didn’t think the service was that great. Oh well, I’m on a month-to-month plan at the moment. If all goes well I’ll sign up for the annual plan.
I’m trying my best to keep my old phone number. Right now call-forwarding is working so you wouldn’t know the difference. At some point though, Sunrocket isn’t going to work anymore. Hopefully my number transfer will go through by then.
