Busy May
4/Jun 2006
Update on Dad: He had a minor set back early last week. He got an infection because his white cell count was so low. He wound up going in to the hospital on Tuesday. He was released Friday afternoon. He’s doing better today.
Wow. We’ve had a pretty big few weeks.
First of all, our hardwood floor are finished. They look great too. We went with red oak with a dark cherry finish. We are waiting to replace the baseboards until we get the walls painted. Looks like it will be a busy summer. Good think Jamie’s taking this summer off!
About two weekends ago we went up near Woodland Park to a place called Sourdough Valley. Agilent, my new employer, has a few recretion sites for employee use. This place is great. It’s got about a dozen cabins, a bunch of campsites, and big pavillion type thing (complete with showers). We stayed in a cabin. You can find a link to the pictures below.
The following weekend we went on a backpacking trip to Grand Gulch Primitive Area in south-eastern Utah. It was great. It was tough, but we saw a lot of Anasazi ruins. Jared and I have been there many times, but this was the first trip for Jamie and our friend Matt. It’s very cool because you can actually go up to the ruins (the Anasazi lived about 800 years ago) and pick up pottery shards and stuff. Great place. We hiked about 20 miles total over 1 full day and two half days. Gali didn’t think it was so great; he was pretty mellow the whole time. Poor thing was hot and tired.
Update on my job: I love my job. I can’t remember the last time I had a job that I actually wanted to go to. I’m coding and it’s fun.
