Spring Break, 2006
1/Apr 2006
We went back to Mexico last week. We had a great time!
We were a bit apprehensive at first because it was our first time staying in our timeshare (Villa Del Palmar Flamingos in Nuevo Vallarta). We were not disappointed! The resort is beautiful. We stayed in a 1 bedroom condo (that could sleep 4). The bedroom had a 5 piece master bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub. There was marble everywhere. The patio was incredible with a nice big marble table, chairs, and a chez lounge. We had a great view of the resort and the ocean.
We stayed pretty active too. We did an ATV tour of the jungle (it was just ok), a sailing tour to a couple of beaches and a snorkling trip to Los Arcos (don’t bother), and we went back to Rythms Of The Night (which was spectacular).
A local tour operator named Vallarta Adventures owns a place called Las Caletas. It used to be owned by some actor (name escapes me). Anyway, they take you there by boat at sunset. When you arrive the place is lit up by candlelight (there’s no electricity on that part). We saw a pre-hispanic show (great dancers, drummers, fire tossers, etc). After that we had a nice buffet dinner by candlelight. Each table was in the sand next to the beach. It’s a great thing to do if you’re ever in Puerto Vallarta.
Other than that we took some trips into town, and sat around on the beach or by the pool. Jamie went horseback riding on the beach (one of her favorite things to due).
It was also our first time not staying at an all-inclusive resort. It was a bit of a change, but I think we handled it pretty well! We cook a few meals in the condo. We went out a few times for dinner too.
All in all we had a great time and we can’t wait to go back next year (we’ll go somewhere different).
