Phoenix in the winter

Jamie and I spent this past weekend in Phoenix, AZ. Jamie’s dad, Jim, has spent the last two January’s in a little town called Apache Junction.

It’s a quaint little cowboy town (complete with people wearing handguns at the Wal-Mart!), perfectly suited for Jim and Geraldine (his new mule). Sharon was there to keep them both company.

We stayed with our good friends Lindsay and Jonathan Cavner the first two night, and we spent the last night with our good friends Phill and Autumn Miller. We got to see Jim a few times during the weekend.

Phoenix in the winter is really pretty. You also can’t beat the weather! Mid 70’s and sunny during the day. We took advantage of it while we could. On Saturday we all went on a decent hike (maybe 5 miles) in the Superstition Mountains near Apache Junction. Phill and Autumn thought they would die, but they pulled through just fine.

On Sunday we tried to watch Lindsay and Jonathan run an 8km race but we were too late. We got there just in time to see them getting their awards though! Jonathan placed 1st overall, and Lindsay placed 1st for her age group. Good job guys!

Later on that day Phill and Autumn took us around town to show us the sites. We had a really nice dinner and The Bamboo Club (which we highly recommend) and crashed shortly after (it was a long weekend afterall).

Although we forgot our camera, Autumn gave us her disposable. I’ll put those pictures up once we get the film developed.
